kevin rudd can eat a dick...
even though i didn't vote for ruddy i did have hope that with the liberal fuckstains removed from government that we might be in for an era with less conservative fearmongering and general asshattery.
sucks to be wrong. this whole internet filtering plan proposed by the government is just ludicrous. i can only surmise that inbetween learning chinese and eating dicks he also took on board the chinese desire to decide for people what they can and can't look at on the internet.
what i don't get is why mainstream media doesn't mention the freaking obvious drawbacks. it won't stop child porno as they use p2p and other non-web methods. it will slow down our already ridiculously slow internet, and finally, the list of banned sites is not up for any public scrutiny. how the fuck am i supposed to trust that these cocksnaps are censoring just the kiddie porn and not just also using it to block whatever goes against their current policy at the time? censorship is a bad bad bad thing and i can't remember the last time that it was ever reduced in any country it's been implemented in. this of course means when the liberals get their next shot at fucking the country they will continue to dine out on this freedom fucking filter and lead us all to churchie and don bradman sites or something...

there’s a fraction too much friction...
lately there seems to be a lot of news about the alcohol related violence in the melbourne cbd. from every article i've seen it always involves some bogun fuck from the outer burbs causing all of this shit. i mean when was the last time you read an article saying someone from brighton or richmond was responsible. no. it's always some useless cunt from sunbury or reservoir. fuck them. fuck them in their unemployed arses. my proposal (which i must give props to my friend joe for inspiration) is to form a baghdad style green zone around the inner city and let those outer suburb fuckers stew in their own filth instead of ruining our fair cbd with their bullshit violence. here is my design. footscray is included because they make nice viet food and it's too innercity to leave out, and of course all council building towers will be knocked down and rebuilt out in caroline springs or somewhere else equally as useless and underfunded...

    reviews of stuff...
hmm, bored. bored after watching yet another crappy movie that is highly rated on imdb. what i've come to realise is that people are fucking idiots and should never be trusted to judge anything. anywho, as i'm not tired due to being so angry that i wasted two hours of my life watching 3:10 to yuma i thought i'd review crap.

    i) games...

far cry 2 : very pretty but one main gripe. on one hand you are after decent realism with the surrounds and weapons and such then you go and fuck up the whole immersion thing by having suitcases of diamonds stashed all across the fucking map. nothing more annoying than seeing that green light flashing to remind me how stupid some game makers are. also, the game was too short...

mass effect : ooh mamma did i like this game. rpg with fps elements with a sci-fi theme with lots and lots of dialogue. if somebody had asked me what would i like in a game built just for me this would pretty much be it. the only downside is that when i fucked the alien chick all i got to see was one blue ass cheek. lame. also, i didn't like how i couldn't charm both chicks at the same time. it's not like they were on the same deck or anything. still, minor gripe. also, the game was too short...

call of duty - world at war : after that debacle at the launch party for this game i didn't hold out much hope. i didn't see much improvement over cod4 when i played the game and lets be honest; world war 2 shooters have been done to death. still, when i got the thing for my pc i was suitably impressed. the south pacific missions were cool and the stalingrad missions pretty sweet too. flamethrowers are fun. much fun. also, this game was way too short. (i know it's made for multiplayer but for mine i think multi wouldn't be as fun as cod4. old weapons suck...

ghost recon advanced warfighter 2 : freaking sweet. nice and tactical and nerd like. also hard as fuck. the mission towards the end when crossing the bridge is bullshit hard. still, the more a game makes me angry for it being hard the more satisfying it is to complete. the graphics were ok and the ai had some flaws which made certain parts too easy as you could pick routines and such but all in all quite fun. this game was about the right length...

fallout 3 : great game. had me immersed for the most part and had so many sweet elements. the only downside was the lack of 40's jazz tracks. there was only so many times i could handle hearing butcher pete and that crappy civilisation congo song (mogazine? wot happoned?) before i had to shoot three dog in the face. this unfortunately didn't stop the songs. major gripe was the levelling up. i was enjoying doing all the side missions so i could keep levelling up and getting some nice perks but the level caps at 20 so the moment that happened i had ZERO incentive to do any of the side missions. even a token increase in stats would have been enough to keep me going. also, i found the dad in the vault accidentally while exploring which cut off half of the storyline. still, ambitious and fun as hell. also i finished the game twice. once as good and once as evil. evil was waaaaay easier and took a third of the time to complete. nuking megaton was fun...

also, one other thing that all of these games seem to have a problem with. WALKING UP HILLS. for some reason that i cannot possibly fathom; game makers all across the world have decided that while we want the most realism in a game we can get, there must not be a market for a game where a character can walk up a hill with a slightly steep gradient. humans are not fucking trains, we can ascend stuff. that is all...

    ii) movies...

gone baby gone : this movie got a 7.9 on imdb. how i will never know. i read many a review of this film about its gripping portrayal of moral choices made and not made and blah blah blah blah. this movie sucked. the acting was unbelievable and completely wooden. not one character came across as real and as far as immersion goes this is the antithesis of fucking immersion. i sat through this thing wishing mr and mrs affleck had of used some condoms a few decades back and i wouldn't have had to sit through this shit. also a long overdue fuck you to morgan freeman. every single character you do is the same. all of them. you make me want to punch stuff...

insanitarium : rather boring horror film with over the top crazy german doctor and the gardener from desperate housewives. only high point was when the character played by olivia munn resigns from her job. the line was arnie-esque...

3:10 to yuma : stupid. pointless. makes no sense. a killer who has no problems dynamiting a train full of people and killing everything in his path all of a sudden lets the christian bale character take him to the train to prison then kills his own team for stopping him. dumb. i'm sure some assclown will come up with lame philosophical point as to why he did it but in reality it was just crap...

rescue dawn : for some reason i can't escape christian bale of late. this is a bad thing. all the characters i'm seeing him play now all require him to put on this half retard stubborn face which shits me to tears. the movie itself was average. when you are hoping that the main character gets hacked to bits early on then it's pretty much downhill from there...

    iii) music...

the cure - 4:13 dream : tried to like this. i'm sick of trying to like new cure albums.
deadwood - ramblack : uninspired. 8 19 was much better.
körperwelten - avatars of rape and rage : with a title like that i expected a lot more rage than i got.
100blumen - floral annihilation : pretty good. good to see decent rhythmic noise still being made.
    klangstabil - math & emotion : it's klangstabil, it's good.
bitcrush - epilogue in waves : surprising, and enjoyable sort of dreamy post-rock electronic type thing.
mogwai - the hawk is howling : patchy but has some great moments.

anywho, i must say i am sick to fucking death on all of the useless anti-china bullshit that has surrounded the most recent of boring waste of times.

    what's in a name?
'the devil wears prada', 'story of the year', 'vhs or beta' and 'does it offend you, yeah?' all have one thing in common. they are each utterly atrocious names for a band. using not so subtle pop culture references is getting a bit out of hand. what's next? the new single from the killer band weekend at bernies 2?
i can picture it now. wab2 (as they will now be known; particularly when used in pitchfork reviews and in other super dooper uber webzines) will move to new york, set up a bitchin' myspace and try the original tactic of playing just like the killers but with a subtle twist as to make them seem hip and relevant to the ever-growing throng of newer new wave indie bandwagoners. wab2 will then release their first album which will win ridiculous amounts of critical acclaim from all and sundry even though it just plain sucks. of course nobody will ever mention how sucky it is but everyone will secretly think it on the inside. the next chapter in the wab2 odyssey will have their sophomore release being actually kinda good but will be destroyed in the press as they had the gumption to try something new. after receiving fuck all stars in a few publications both off and online it will barely rate a mention again as there is a newer band who just moved to new york and has set up an even more bitchin' myspace. they even have an eccentric female singer. whoooooah...
wab2 then will break up but will reform ten years later to cash in on the reunion festival bandwagon and share rehab stories with scott weiland...
    wash, rinse, repeat...

oh, and story of the year. where does one start with that. sounds like a piss poor daily gazette news scoop on the superman movie that nobody watched. ya know, the one that came out after the cool pvc-clad one.
    STORY OF THE YEAR!
this just at hand! crap band comes up with suckiest name ever!

'vhs or beta' is a question people were asked in the early 80's when walking in to a video store. it shouldn't be a band name. if i said i was going to start a band called 'blu-ray or hddvd' you would be well within your rights to cause me harm and so should be the same with these clowns...

lastly, the only thing offensive about 'does it offend you, yeah' is just how crap the name is. it's an affront to life. to quote the band on how they got their name 'when me and james rushent first started writing music together we decided to put it up on myspace. we needed a name to put as our profile name so just put what was the first thing that was said on tv, we switched it on and ricky gervais said 'does it offend you, yeah? my drinking?' so we just went with that. no thought went into it whatsoever.'

and that is the fucking problem...

    endless, nameless, random...
hmm let me see. been a while. not much new with me. went to wollongong for two weeks which was pretty good. other than that i've spent my free time listening to boundless amounts of music and playing games. exciting huh? i'm pretty much housebound with a severe lack of desire to alter my hermit like ways. maybe i'll do something interesting next week...
anywho, in lieu of the liberal party not being in power it seems i have much less to complain about but i've managed a few things. stuff and things if you will...

random thought 111: people who comment on youtube videos are all retards. without exception. now i enjoy traipsing around youtube just like anybody else, but delve into the comment section and you will be bombarded with the most useless and uneducated opinions of people utilising only protozoa levels of intelligence. furthermore, why on fucking earth does every video montage on youtube have freaking nickelback playing in the background? THIS IS NOT COOL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. people have died for less. cunts...

random thought 112: why the fuck doesn't every remote control use 9 volt batteries instead of the AA or AAA ones? now, anyone who has gone through the pain of a broken latch on the back of the remote like i have knows that when dropped, those cylindrical motherfuckers will bounce out and roll underneath the couch never to be seen again. every single time. this is of course in accordance with article 27 of 'what goes under the couch stays under the couch' statute 2b. actually, i don't see why more things can't be designed to be non-cylindric so they don't escape our grasp. lip balm, pens, sausages. all of these things could be saved. then again the cylindric based industry probably makes double the profits from these very situations. fuck capitalism. cunts...

random thought 113: plastic remote control latches are bullshit. just how large an amount of crack had to be smoked to come up with the dumbass idea to make the flexing part out of plastic? it is always going to break. if you want a plastic latch then it just has to be a fucking slider latch like half the mobile phones use. see? so simple, yet no remote has it that i've ever seen. just think of all the rolling battery chaos that could be stymied if only a sliding latch was in place. then again, the plastic latch people and the cylindric based people are probably in cahoots. when will it all end. cunts...

random thought 114: scene kids. fuck me dead. a deadly cross-pollination between emo and FRUiTS. who thought this was a good idea? this sort of neon fashion ethos went out of australian style back when the chantoozies were a relevant musical force. it looks cute when a japanese person is dolled up like that, not so much 13 year old skanks from the burbs. 'nuff said. cunts...

random thought 115: has anybody noticed the infuriating trend of calling a persons mobile only for the answering service ask you to either put the password in (if it's your mailbox) or key in the number again if you wish to leave a message? you know fucking what? i though i already fucking did that. i am not, i repeat; not, entering that number again. a message to whoever designed this system; you deserve for your children to contract cancer of the eyes so they don't have to see what a cunt you are. cunts...

holiday hoohah and other such malarkey...
well, i guess it's been a month and a half since i arrived back from indonesia so i think it's about time to whack up some photos for all and sundry to peruse and make sure i have some actual evidence of travel before i lose the cd under some old foxtel magazines or somewhere else just as dastardly. now, i must give credit to anna for most of the snaps as i didn't take a single one because i am not much of a happy snapper and i didn't take any camera of my own with me...
the holiday was pretty damned sweet and was even better considering it was our first time overseas. landing in indo late at night then scooting through the streets to get to our hotel was an experience in itself. would be nothing to anyone mildly seasoned in travelling overseas but for me was pretty cool. to cut the story short, we did a tonne of stuff, purchases many movie/tv boxsets (all perfectly legal i'm sure) and wore thongs for 3 weeks straight. of course now i've broken the cherry i want to go somewhere else. anyways here is some of the meagre amount of photos taken. emjoi gently...

    the music of 2007...
i'm bored and cannot be bothered sifting through my holiday happy snaps so i shall compile my favourite albums from last year instead. i don't know why, as it's just as tedious if i think about it, but yeah, anyways...

einstürzende neubauten - alles wieder offen

after silence is sexy and perpetuum mobile which both didn't grab me much at all i was hoping that this release would be the bees knees. it is. it had more vibrancy than the last two and less lounge jazz shite which i'm no fan of at all. it's no haus der lüge or halber mensch but it's the best stuff they've done in over a decade. rockin...

wrong number - gun type fission weapon

released on 22 dec 2006 is close enough in my book to make it for 2007. this album rocks. it's on the hermetique label so you kinda get the gist of the genre. the theme is on the manhattan project and associated events. lovely heavy ambient album with well placed sampling. a corker...

nordvargr - in oceans abandoned by life i drown... to live again as a servant of darkness

just one of the 2,567,392 nordvargr related releases of last year and just sounds awesome on a decent system. the title of the release is the best way to describe how it sounds. those of you who like nordvargr should be getting this. top notch...

100blumen - in floriculture there is no law!

this one is probably the best stumble across album of the year. never heard of this act before and grabbed a track after hearing their remix on the new config.sys album. i was rather impressed. it's a very varied album which you can't say about too many in the electronic world. if you are a fan of anything ant-zen then this will appeal to ye. sweet as...

    arcade fire - neon bible

ahh, looking forward to seeing this band in a few weeks. this release has grabbed me in a very pixies-esque way, and by that i mean the way i find it hard to go days without listening to it. it has beautiful moments and poppy ones. much like the pixies i guess. kickass...

    prometheus burning - nBoyde raRepi

now, i'm not usually one for remix albums but this one is the exception to the rule. instead of the usual suspects remixing a bunch of tracks i will forget about quickly, these remixes bring something to the table. they put their own take on it instead of just doing the remix kit 101 effort. it's punchy and much goodness. the ducks nuts...

    jesu - conqueror

ahh i have to thank [info]rarr for this band. this is fucking awesome. think shoegazer post-rock and that sort of describes it. one of the guys used to be in godflesh and there is the odd element here and there. all in all, good listening. the bees knees...

necroanal - the new and improved shitcicle: now with more nuts!

this has to be in here for the album title alone. but outside of that necroanal are a total balls-out electronic fist fuck. aggressive short songs which could maybe described as grind noise? either way, this rocks. the dog's bollocks...

    stahlschlag - acousticophobie

this is something they call schranz. to me it's hardass techno almost verging on rhythmic noise in parts. it's rather well done and gets one foot tapping quite easily. would be awesome to dance too if you were of that persuasion, which i am not. either way, this is good. smashing...

    melechesh - emissaries

blackened thrash rocks. it combines the black metal aesthetic with the decent crispy sound of thrash metal. this was released in 2006 overseas but not until 2007 here so it slips in. this album has all the finest elements of both genres and puts it together with some egyptian bits here and there and it fucking rules. why this genre isn't huge i don't know. brilliant...

editors - an end has a start

this band was awesome live and ever since i heard munich on the radio a few years back i've had a soft spot for these fellows. this album is better than their first which was fine enough and had had rather high rotation this year. their clips suck though. boy do they suck. still, can't wait for their third. ace...

ok that's enough methinks. i'm sure there's more i missed as you'd expect but this is a decent lineup of releases and try as i might i couldn't find any version of celtic frost's monotheist that was released in 2007 so yeah, i'm done. heh.
also, if you could be bothered what are all of your top albums from last year?

    sanity prevails...
now this country can finally wake up from it's terrible nightmare and hopefully restore the ideal that people should come before dollars and that socially divisive politics just to hold on to power is just so fucking wrong...
you know those times you wake up in the morning after a big night out and everything is fuzzy and you remember nothing at first but then get those 'i did what?' flashes during the day and feel that pang of regret?
well, i think john howard's reign of terror was one of those big nights out, but on a slightly larger and more important scale. haha...

also, and for one last time; fuck you, howard. fuck you for so very many reasons it's not funny. i will not miss the hatred you coaxed from myself, the embarrassment that you were our representative in the wide world, and the direction you were leading my society towards...

    it's all the rage...
a few months back i was watching rage and they had the winner of the competition to program the saturday night. the winner of course was a total undeserving assclown who while i was watching went from showing the tv audience something his mother had written for him, to using that as a delicious segue into a busta rhymes clip. karma will of course give him bowel cancer for that indiscretion. well here's hoping anyways. anyways, with boredom and time on my hands playing a major influence i thought i'd go through what i'd play on rage if i won said competition. so here below is my rage saturday night play list with notes on each (yeah i know they don't do them for each on rage but why the fuck not i say) AND a link to the corresponding clip on youtube or an equivalent site. it even times out at roughly 3 and a half hours which is the average length of these programming efforts. fuck me, i'm so very anal. anyways, emjoi gently...

about - think niles drink (4:00) (link)
i thought this would be a nice upbeat opener. i dig the track and love the just slightly staggered effect of the clip. i love the cd skipping sound being used for good and not evil. from recollection i came across this track on a cock rock disco soundtrack...

bauhaus - telegram sam (2:11) (link)
now i chose this bauhaus song because i think it's a wicked cover and like most good bauhaus tracks it's succinct and leaves you wanting more. i'm also sick of just seeing the clip for mask being shown so here's this one...

faith no more - a small victory (5:10) (link)
one of my favourite faith no more tracks from my fave album of theirs. angel dust kicked much ass and got some serious rotation back in the day. it was a close call between this and everything's ruined but the use of the word cankers got this one over the line. heh...

carcass - incarnated solvent abuse (4:40) (link)
carcass fucking rock. they had the best shirts and the hardest to remember lyrics. necrotism is still one of my favourite albums to this day so i had to play this one. the clip isn't the best but who cares, it's carcass...

mother love bone - stardog champion (5:12) (link)
ahh mother love bone. to think what could have been. this band was destined for big things until andy's heroin overdose. heroin. think about it, without heroin andy wood wouldn't have od'd, there would have been no temple of the dog, therefore there would be no pearl jam. all of the poppies in afghanistan should be erased just for having led to that event alone...

merzbow - minus zero (3:25) (link)
now for some electronics. ooh yes. there is nothing like merzbow for pure sonic terrorism. people may wonder why i dig this stuff but for me there is nothing more cold, harsh and brutal than power electronics or japanoise. i've also seen this guy live and yes, it did indeed rocketh...

wolfsheim - künstliche welten (3:28) (link)
i love this song. i have from the moment i first heard it. i guess you could call wolfsheim a guilty pleasure of mine. i'm not big on the synthpop genre but this song works for me a lot. the clip is ok too...

meliah rage - beginning of the end (3:00) (link)
this is a track from one of the albums that formulated my musical tastes when i was all young and impressionable. it's from their album entitled kill to survive which i bought it when i was in year 5 and have listened to it more times than any other album i own. originally i think i was entranced by the gory cover but what a thrashing gem it turned out to be...

the smiths - heaven knows im miserable now (3:10) (link)
the smiths are fucking awesome so i had to play one video of them at least. with this one i chose it because it has everything. morrissey's quiff is at it's highest peak, the shirt mostly unbuttoned and even the gladiolas get a guernsey. i defy you to find me a poncier clip than this one. truly awesome. the song is ok too. heh...

    STROM.ec - v.a.l.i.s (6:34) (link)
strom are one of my favourite electronics acts and as this was the only clip they have ever done it was a given it would be in here. if you don't think heavy electronics can be innovative then go pick up a copy of neural architect. it's in my top 10 all time fave albums for good reason. this clip is from their upcoming album which has been due forever now and i quite like the song. almost heads towards dark ambient in places...

tumbleweed - hang around (2:29) (link)
this song was bouncing around my noggin like a motherfucker while strolling down the hallways back in high school. i loved tumbleweed then and i still do now. i'm from wollongong, it's just the way it is. they're also the band i've seen the most times live, which i think stands at about 13,147 times. i'm from wollongong, it's just the way it is. heh...

    yeah yeah yeahs - y-control (3:59) (link)
i could say that this song is great and go on blah blah blah about it, but to describe it best i'd say this is a song to fuck to. her voice is just the sex in my humble opinion and yeah the song is great. heh. the clip itself is a little odd though. it has interesting imagery and doesn't fit at all with the sex vibe i attribute to it...

joy division - atmosphere (4:06) (link)
i had to play at least one thing from one of the best bands to have ever existed. joy division were nothing short of brilliant and this song is just another example. it also happens to be my favourite video clip of all time. the clip itself is quite sad really. a sort of tribute to ian. complete with druids. it all works to perfection...

icehouse - great southern land (4:58) (link)
without a doubt in my mind, and with no tongue at all in cheek, this song should be our national anthem. it's the only piece of music which i think makes me feel anything remotely patriotic. i mean, who the fuck feels anything for advance australia fair?? when was the last time any of us used the word gurt in a sentence? there's also the thing that it's a cool track. icehouse/flowers rocked the 80's...

    nirvana - sliver (2:13) (link)
nirvana was my favourite band of the 90's and still up there now. i own almost every thing they have ever put to a cd. to say i was obsessed with them back in the days of grunge is obvious. obvious as the fact that nickelback have set human evolution back a generation or 3. it's no longer called generation y, it's now generation oh dear god why???? hahahahaha. anyways, i digress. this song rocks...

    einstürzende neubauten - z.n.s (6:40) (link)
from year 3 onwards my parents allowed me to stay up all night and watch rage. back then it was mighty hard to stay awake all night but like a little trooper i did. one night in year 3 or 4 rage played the entire halber mensch film that neubauten did with ishii sogo. to say that i was completely blown away by it was an understatement. it made me realise that there was so much more out there other than the shit music my parents bought for me without me asking for it. to be honest it was the point of no return and played the most massive part in formulating my musical tastes. out of the clips from that film i've chosen z.n.s. it does indeed rocketh and how can any song suck when it has people mispronouncing the song title and chanting 'syphilis' instead?...

christian death - romeo's distress (live) (3:00) (link)
i like christian death quite a lot. well the rozz fronted christian death anyways. his voice is nothing short of amazing and it's a shame there is a goth metal replacement guitarist sullying their good name. anyways, there are not really any clips for the band so this one comes from the rather awesome reunion concert they did in '93. it's on dvd. buy it...

    inxs - don't change (4:29) (link)
ok, this song reminds me of when i was really really young and back in the time when wham was big and tears for fears had star power. i guess it's safe to say that it's a bit of a nostalgic track but the song itself kicks ass in my opinion. if only michael had of kept making tracks like this instead of masturbating with a belt around his neck he could have prevented the debacle that was rockstar: inxs...

fear factory - cyberwaste (3:32) (link)
ok this song is here for being just a balls-out aural assault. it even reminds me a bit of the way they played on the very excellent soul of a new machine which was a favourite back in the day. it seems they're doing better without dino...

deine lakaien - return (3:40) (link)
another soft-ish electronic deutsch band that i dig a lot. kasmodiah was a fantastic album and still gets the occasion spin. plus, alexander has the best hair in music. it also helps that his voice is pretty damn good too...

    ratcat - that ain't bad (3:45) (link)
ahh ratcat. another of the guilty pleasure bands. they made many a catchy tune and had probably the worst shirts ever with that rat/cat thing down the arms. they also were absolutely huge when i was in year 7/8 when i didn't even like them. the ratcat love didn't come until the late 90's and i was lucky enough to see them live at the big day out when that frenzal rhomb clownshoe had a heart attack and they replaced them. was a good gig too...

nick cave and the bad seeds - the mercy seat (5:06) (link)
it was a toss up between this clip and the one for stagger lee but mercy seat has a better clip and the song is more poignant and powerful in my opinion. i was a pretty late starter with mr cave and his exploits with me only getting into him in the mid 90's or so. still, i got there in the end. also, this is the only song in the world where the chorus can be repeated so so many times and actually increase the line's potency on each delivery. mad skillz...

s.o.d. - speak english or die (live at budokan) (3:09) (link)
another of the albums that were a huge deal in formulating my tastes back in primary school was s.o.d.'s speak english or die album. i bought it (or had it bought for me) in year 6 i think and listened to it over and over and over and over again. the album is awesome from start to finish. the best thrashy stuff in the business. now this track is from their reunion gig in the early 90's. note the raining blood effort mid-song. pure awesome...

crash test dummies - mmm mmm mmm mmm (4:01) (link)
one of the best drinking songs out there. many a time i played this one on the jukebox at the pub. goes great alonside the cure, nick cave, and copious amounts of alcohol...

raison d'etre - disintegrates from within (9:41) (link)
as per usual, brilliantly perfected dark ambient from mr andersson. this and the majority of his side-projects rock my socks and i don't have much more to say other than i love the way this music has the power to mentally take me wherever it wants to go. it's almost a primal thing i guess. it's hard to explain...

    necro - i need drugs (4:30) (link)
this video is just plain disturbing. my old dealer played me the mp3 of this track a while back and i stumbled upon the clip not long ago and oh yeah it's all class. using real junkies is the cheapest way to make a clip yet very effective...

celtic frost - a dying god coming into human flesh (5:41) (link)
monotheist was a fantastic comeback album and is also my favourite from celtic. this song is nice and dirgy and makes your stomach recoil when it's played at massively loud volume. very nice indeed...

echo & the bunnymen - the cutter (3:56) (link)
great song from a great band. i'm still shitty that i missed out on seeing them last time they came out...

    swans - a screw (3:30) (link)
the swans kick ass. so much variety over the years. i liked the majority of it although they lost me a bit whenever they went overly folky. still, there's so much good shit to choose from. they are also one of only 2 acts that i enjoy the cover of joy division's love will tear us apart...

    guns n' roses - estranged (9:39) (link)
gnr kicked much ass and i had trouble picking the clip but went with estranged because i haven't seen it 20 million times. the clip is ok, the song is great but for some reason it makes me wish they did a video for coma...

jesus and mary chain - never understand (2:57) (link)
i love the distortion and feedback this band produce. psychocandy was an awesome album and still kicks ass in my opinion. i have misplaced my copy somewhere along with a few mogwai albums and it's eating at me to search the wardrobe behind my computer desk which contains stuff i didn't think i'd need hence me putting a chest of drawers and my comp desk in front of it. i stand corrected...

    d.a.d. - girl nation (3:43) (link)
this song is funny but good at the same time. i remember them being popular around the time countdown revolution was running and richard wilkins was still doing mtv. i also remember that 2 string guitar and the sparks flying from the bassits helmet. the singers short sleeve number is also something to behold...

megadeth - holy wars...the punishment due (6:32) (link)
this song is thrash heaven. every time i listen to it i still get chills on how good it is. rust in peace was a freaking classic album with absolutely sublime guitar work and deserves to be in the top 5 albums of any metal fan. i saw them a year and a half ago and they were mucho goodness...

    editors - munich (3:45) (link)
i heard this song for the 1st time when i was in wollongong for xmas where i get a car with no cd player to drive around in. this of course forces me to listen to jjj whenever i'm driving. anyways, i loved that haunting guitar sound from the moment i heard it and when i got back to dads place i downloaded the album. on dialup. needless to say it was good as is the new one and if you can you must see these fuckers live. they know how to play...

    skinny puppy - pro-test (4:29) (link)
now i was going to go with testure which like anything from VIVIsectVI is just pure gold but instead i chose this clip. why you ask? goth breakdancers. yes, goth breakdancers. i don't really think i need to say any more than that. haha...

    hard-ons - something about you (2:26) (link)
there isn't an australian who watched late night rage during the late 80's and early 90's who wouldn't know who this band is. they were punchbowl's answer to the ramones and i have fond memories of rage playing this and the girl in the sweater after 3am when the heavier stuff usually came on. sweet...

skid row - 18 and life (3:49) (link)
well this just was begging to be included. skid row were the epitomy of bad boy hair metal. they also kicked ass live and i got to see them back in 1990, woohah! unfortunately slave wasn't as great an album as the debut and it went downhill from there. now all we see is sebitchian guesting on trailer park boys and making an ass out of himself on reality tv! one thing i always wanted to know though, how the fuck did rachel get around without having half his body ripped off due to having chains connecting his nose to his navel to his ass to his ear and whatever else? i guess we will never know...

machine head - old (4:07) (link)
the first time i heard the burn my eyes album i was on acid and from that moment on i was in love with it. the artwork for the album was pretty damn sweet too. it's a shame that they started sucking after burn but what can you do. it also must be said that flynn's previous band vio-lence were pretty sweet too...

    vio-lence - world in a world (3:57) (link)
ok, i think it's safe for me to say 'see above'...

mogwai - friend of the night (5:30) (link)
another great mogwai track. i must say that i've gotten into quite a lot of post-rock stuff over the last year or so and there's no better example of why than mogwai. to say that i'm rather perturbed that i missed out on seeing them live last year due to financial constraints would be a fair statement. i first saw one of their earlier clips on rage and thought it too drony at the musical place i was in at the time. funny how bands come back to you isn't it?...

the cranberries - linger (4:40) (link)
a simply beautiful song. one of those ones i can listen to on repeat for ridiculously long periods of time. the first 2 cranberries albums kick much ass. the no need to argue album was constantly in my walkman for a while back in the day. the only song i didn't like of that album was zombie (auto fast forward the moment the gorgeous twenty one started to fade out) but the rest was rather to my liking. bet you didn't expect to read that shit. haha...

violetine - any day (3:29) (link)
a criminally underrated post-grunge era band if ever there was one. small speaker joyland is a great album and was a portent of what was to come. well until sony fucked them over and the band broke up. the singles from the album were mostly good but it's when violetine meandered that they were at their best. dr vonk being a good example. buuut as this is the only clip that i can find here 'tis...

the knife - heartbeats (3:55) (link)
now it was either going to be this version or the josé gonzález version and i do love both versions as the emotion behind both is coming from completely different places. in the end considering most of the other angsty shit i have on this list, i went for the more light of the two. heh...

cult of luna - leave me here (4:27) (link)
now this band are fucking awesome. ran into them on myspace of all places and liked what i heard. they call it post metal apparently and it kicks ass. the perfect mixture of the softer intricacies and nuances of post rock but with an aggressive counterbalance. fuck me, that was the wankiest sentence i've ever typed. i should write record reviews. haha...

big wreck - the oaf (3:57) (link)
the album (in loving memory of...) from which this song is taken is one of the best blind purchases i have ever made. for those not in the know, a blind purchase means i was flush with cash and i bought the damn thing because of one song on the album that i happened to like at the time. anywho, even though i was highly impressed with my gem purchase from wollongong markets, of course what usually happens when i like a band nobody has heard of other than that song played on jjj (ironically that song is titled 'that song') occurred again and they were never heard from in australia after that. i bought their 2nd album and the singers post breakup solo cd from amazon though so nerr to you all. oh yeah, the album. wikipedia calls it neo-progressive hard rock or some shit but i think wiki is just making shit up again...

suicidal tendencies - trip at the brain (4:59) (link)
ahh cyco miko, how you did make me wish i had some actual co-ordination and skill on a skateboard when i was younger but alas it wasn't to be. still, i had your music and that was good enough for moi. another of those crossover thrashy type bands but with the skate thing attached. there are many suicidal songs i could pick but this one is my fave. i love the speed the song picks up both vocally and instrumentally towards the end. wicked moment...

synapscape - new order (6:45) (link)
now this one is from one of my favourite electronic acts synapscape. over the years they have added more elements rather than just sticking to the 4 on the floor rhythmic noise or going whole hog into other genres. ok it's 4am and i have no idea what i'm talking about other than to say this act rocks and this is the only clip they have to my knowledge so yeah...

morbid angel - blessed are the sick/leading the rats (4:53) (link)
blessed are the sick was my favourite album from morbid angel and probably tieing with carcass's necrotism for favourite death metal album of all time. the production on this album was fucking fantastic. to me it feels warm in temperature and visceral without being sharp and abrasive. by slowing it down considerably from 'altars' it has more for me. it's a work of art not just 4 to the floor death metal. the clip does suck though i must admit...

alice in chains - would? (3:28) (link)
dirt is one of my all time favourite albums. the whole thing leaves me with a wretched smack taste in my mouth. it's feels just like it's titled. plus you can't go past layne's voice, fantastiche! so yeah i wasn't going to finish this without at least one AIC track and here it be...

now to the final track of the evening and fuck me swinging it's the best song i could ever have come up with. no explanations needed!
    enjoy...

cycle sluts from hell - i wish you were a beer (2:22) (link)

now to be honest, i could fill another 20 hours up with all the songs i'd want to play and have good reasons for each of them but this thing has gotten outta control somewhat and i waaaaay underestimated the time this would take. here i was thinking an hour or two. hahaha fuck i'm stupid and fuck this was pointless. i need to leave the house at some juncture i dare say...

in other news, i am leaving the house next saturday night for some kind of ball with a cyber theme. there best be cake...

    channel ten licks balls...
    the cancer...

channel ten should lose their formula 1 coverage rights as they could not give less of a shit about showing the races live. the deciding race of the season is being held in china which is in our time zone and starts at 4pm our time. what time will channel ten show the race? 1 fucking am. and the show so vitally important to the world that trumps the championship deciding race? a fucking rugby world cup review. not a live match mind you, a review of the weeks matches. as if anyone interested in that shit wouldn't know the scores (and if you don't australia and nz lost their respective matches) by now. it's also not like it's the first time ten has done this. they do it time and time again. i was surprised as all fuck that they showed last weeks japanese gp. they must not have gotten the rights to the south darwin under 10 swimming carnival in time to relegate the f1's to a late-night timeslot...

    the cure...

anyways, now how to remedy this situation! after scouring the internet i found a site called tvu networks which shows many a channel online. download the tvuplayer and set your channel to star sports and watch the race live at 4pm like i intended :) also, the 24 hour family guy channel is recommended too...

in other news, if your internet connection sucks then so will your coverage. luckily for me mine doesn't...

magpie madness descends into corporate hatred...
i had this idea of a post that contained the reasons why collingwood is so dear to me and why it's as if i'm watching my children out there on the field. it was a long and eloquent post which delved into every part of me to work out why i am but a helpless deer in the headlights when it comes to them. but, because i was logged into windows xp and not my darling kubuntu there was the inevitable crash of doom which left me feeling downtrodden and bereft of humanity. i cannot stress just how utterly shit anything to do with microsoft is. the only good thing they even touched was os/2 but they fucked off after 5 minutes and left ibm to deal with it. for all those who are old enough to remember, how much fucking potential did that have??????????
then again the amiga was a superior machine (i mean when windows 95 was forcibly shoved up our fucking asses; what machine provided the video wall to welcome bills evil penis to the world? fucking amiga. and why? because a pc with windows 95 could not do it) and it now sits in the bin with foreigner, bros and the gunners' spaghetti incident albums. it's all marketing. it's not the best product that wins, it's the one with the most corporate cash behind it. it's been going on for ages. beta had better quality but sony's vhs had better support. think about that for a second...
IT'S NOT ABOUT WHAT IS THE BEST FOR THE CONSUMER. we are a fucking joke to them and rightly fucking so. we pissant about and give mild grumblings to this or that but on the whole we are mindless cockheads who thinks with the ads between csi miami or thank god you're here...
now, the below is something i've pondered on for a while and as i'm all about freedoms and such this might seem like a contradiction of sorts...
ah fuckit, not the case. ok, humans are fucked. our technology has provided those retarded fucked up specimens to survive when natural selection should have had them dead or sitting in the hills drinking apple juice through a straw and voting for one nation and breeding with their sisters and calling mum; sis...
i once read a joke about taking the warning labels off everything and let it all sort itself out. you know what? bring it the fuck on. can you imagine? those fucked up parasites who infect humanity and drag it down to the point it means nothing anymore will be dead!
i know it sounds harsh, but this planet is heading to a bad, bad, motherfucking fucker of a bad place and i think we should jettison the useless now and get fucking used to the inevitable...
oh man i sound like hitler i know, but give my words twenty years, and when we are all fighting the indonesians just for a drink of water then tell me how fucking crazy i am...

in other news, humanity is the worst thing to happen to earth....after nickelback...
